The NETAA Invitational Elimination Round is a 3D money tournament to be held at various locations. Participation is exclusively by pre-registration, with forms mailed to a list of "invited" contestants. There will be three mailings for each tournament. The first mailing will be to NETAA members. One week later a second mailing will go to past NETAA competitors (no longer members). One week after the second mailing, a third mailing will go out to a general list of archers who have requested their names be put on the invitation list. Registrations will be accepted in the order they are received at NETAA Headquarters.
Each elimination round will be limited to participation in multiples of 32, 48, or 64 contestants. The first 32 registration forms received will be sent written confirmation that their registrations have been excepted (as well as formal notification that the 32 contestants needed for the guaranteed $1,000.00 minimum first prize has been met). Additional registrations received will be kept in order as "alternates" . If/when the total number of pre-registrations equals 48, an additional 16 contestants will receive confirmation that they have been accepted in the tournament. Similarly, when we reach 64 pre-registrations, notices will go out to the last 16 received indicating that they have been excepted (and that the prize money has been adjusted in accordance with the schedule for 64 contestants). An additional five registrations (total 69) will be accepted for each tournament, with the last five being held as "alternates" and receiving written confirmation of same.
All contestants will be notified that they are to be present for an 8:00 am meeting Saturday morning at the competition. Any competitor not present for this meeting will be replaced by alternates if possible. If there are not adequate alternates on site to fill the committed place the position in the tournament will be forfeited but the registration money will not be refunded. It is therefore important that all pre-registered contestants be on site prior to 8:00 AM!
The first order of business at the 8:00 AM meeting will be to draw contestant's names in a random drawing to assign positions on the tournament chart. The first name drawn will be assigned the number one position on the chart, second person number two, and so on until all positions are filled.
Pairing for the elimination round, as well as target assignments throughout the tournament, will be made using the tournament chart, therefore the random drawing of line positions sets the tournament format for the entire competition.
Contestant number one will be competing against contestant number two. Contestant number three will compete against contestant number four, and so on for the first segment (ten targets) of the tournament. The first two groupings will make one four person team and be assigned a target to commence shooting at 9:00AM. The next four contestants will be assigned the next line time, with everyone proceeding in a similar fashion until all contestants are started for the first ten target segment of the elimination tournament.
After completing ten targets each contestant/team/group will return to the tournament headquarters where the score cards will be turned in and positioning noted on the elimination board. The winner of each competition will advance to the second segment of the tournament where they will compete with the winner of the next pair on the list. The second ten target elimination segment will commence at 11:30AM.
After completing the second ten target segment of the tournament each group will turn in their score cards to tournament headquarters for verification and posting on the elimination board. Based on the results of the second segment elimination, pairings will be made and the groups assigned for segment three. The third segment is scheduled to go off at 2:30 Saturday afternoon and will run in a similar fashion to the first two. (NOTE: The first segment will run on course B targets 1-10. The second segment will run on course B targets 11-20. The third segment will run on course A targets 1-10.).
Tied scores on each ten target segment will be broken by the total number of 12's. If there is a tie in both score and number of 12's, the archer who posted the first "12" on the ten target segment will be deemed the winner. If the scores are identical between two competitors, the tournament director will arrange a shoot off round to determine the tie before the advancement to the next segment of the tournament.
All remaining contestants after the first three segments will be given a line assignment for Sunday morning at 8:00AM where they will compete on course A targets 11-20. The result of that ten target segment will determine the contestants for the final round which will be arranged for 11 o'clock Sunday.
If there are 48 contestants in the elimination tournament, the first segment of the tournament will involve three contestants shooting per group with one winner advancing to the next segment. This way there will be the same number of segments for both a 32 and 48 contestant tournament. Should there be 64 contestants, the groupings will be the same as in a 32 contestant tournament (as explained above) except there will be four segments on Saturday.
In all cases, the final segment (comprising the four final contestants in the elimination segments up to that point) will be comprised of one four person group. This four person group will shoot against each other for the top four places in the tournament (see chart below). The championship placing 1-4 will be determined by the scores in the last ten target "final" segment. Once again, ties will be broken by total 12's and/or by first 12's, etc. as described above.
Any contestant failing to make the allotted line time will automatically be disqualified and his competitor will automatically advance to the next segment of the championship. The final segment will be shot at ten targets to be determined by the tournament director. This may be any combination of targets originally shot (course A and/or course B) or a separate ten target course set up for this purpose.
Maximum distances will be 50 yards. All NETAA rules will apply. All distances will be known, however contestants will be allowed to use their own range finders if they so desire. The two minute rule will be enforced. Any conflicts, disputes, or questions will be handled by the tournament director, who has final say in all matters.
With 32 contestants the first place prize money will be a guaranteed $1,000.00. With 48 contestants that will raise to $1,500.00, and with 64 contestants it will be $2,000.00. The chart below shows the prize money for all places. These amounts assume no additional sponsorship money being contributed to the tournament, however NETAA will attempt to raise additional funds to increase the prize fund if possible.
All pre-registrations that do not make the cut either as competitors or alternates, will have the choice of a full refund of their pre-registration fee or a partial refund ($75.00) with the balance used as their registration for the NETAA Triple Crown event running in conjunction with the Invitational/Elimination Round. All contestants eliminated in the first three segments of the tournament will be allowed to continue to shoot the remaining targets (forty total) to post a Triple Crown score for that weekend. There will be no prize money in the Money Division of the Triple Crown running concurrent with the Invitational/Elimination Round, however scores posted for the first forty targets by anyone in the Invitational/Elimination Round will be cumulative to the overall standings for the NETAA Triple Crown mini tour. The overall winners of the Triple Crown (based on these cumulative scores) will receive awards in addition to any money paid in the Invitational/Elimination Round.
Anyone wanting to participate in a NETAA Invitational/Elimination Round should contact NETAA headquarters to get their name on the invitation list. Pre-registration cut off date will be 10 days before each event. Invitations will be sent out for each Invitational/Elimination Round throughout the season. Please feel free to call NETAA (508-473-6970) with any questions.
Good shooting.
